The Institute of Russian Studies conducts research in the field of Russian linguistics and literary studies, as well as glottodidactics, in the Slavic context among others. The area of linguistics deals with Russian syntax and semantics, confrontative terminology and onomaziology, as well as sociolinguistics. The research in literary studies focuses on the history of Old Russian literature, as well as literature of the 17th – 19th centuries, 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century, with special attention paid to the literature of the Russian Diaspora and the „internal emigration” of the 20th century. In the area of glottodidactics, the research focuses on problems concerning the scientific background of foreign language instruction, as well as teaching Russian language, especially in the reformed Polish schools, in contrast with the background of European experience. One of the most recently implemented research projects is the „Poland and Russia – a dialogue of cultures” project, which deals with the reception of Russian culture in Poland and Polish culture in Russia.
