Academic research

The Department of Ukrainian Studies is conducting a series of interdisciplinary research in the area of Ukrainian literature, language and culture, philosophical and social thought, the Polish-Ukrainian cultural borderland, as well as the history of Polish-Ukrainian historical, political and cultural relations throughout the ages, as well as research in the area of theory and practice of translation. The range of research in the field of literary studies includes the whole history and lasting achievements of Ukrainian literature from the earliest times, through the baroque, romanticism, classicism, different varieties of modernism as well as the most recent trends in contemporary literature (including postmodernism and other stylistic tendencies), folklore studies, as well as Ukrainian writing in Poland, and Polish-Ukrainian literary relations. The most recent research concerns Ukrainian culture in Poland and the contemporary form of bilateral relations.
